Tori wants very much to communicate with her grandmother whom she loves. Tori asks her mother for her help. Her mother explains she had had a similar problem and suggests Tori shadow her grandmother and do what she does. Of course, when all else fails, smile a lot.

By shadowing her grandmother, Tori learns about many Japanese crafts and customs. She also learns the value of showing love through her actions rather than depending on words.
